Jan Pfennig

Jan “Stix” Pfennig has worked as a professional drummer in the German and international music scene for over two decades. He spent seven years as Sido’s regular drummer, toured with Marteria and Kontra K, and played live with K.I.Z., Adel Tawil, Mark Forster, Culcha Candela and Andrew Roachford among others.

After studying jazz and popular music at the Hanns Eisler academy of music in Berlin, he developed SWAGDRUMMING, his own rhythm concept, and published two textbooks on it.

With his solo project STIXONSPEED he combines acoustic drumming with drum and bass and was named “Best National Live Drum&Bass Act” at the Drum&Bass Award Germany in 2023 and 2024. Alongside his live and session work he is active as an educator and stands for modern drumming at the intersection of hip-hop, electronic music and demanding rhythmic work.
